OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce a recruited placement in partnership with Trinity Square Video for the role of Graphic Design/Communications Intern.

About Trinity Square Video

Trinity Square Video (TSV) is a not-for-profit, artist-run centre committed to supporting media artists through community-rooted programming, production resources, and critical dialogue. Our mission is to amplify underrepresented voices and foster experimentation in media arts, with a strong focus on 2SLGBTQIA+ creators, Black, Indigenous, racialized, disabled, and other equity-deserving communities.

We provide access to equipment, training, mentorship, and exhibition opportunities to artists at all stages of their careers. TSV strives to be a space where emerging and established artists can challenge systems, share stories, and build creative practices grounded in justice, care, and collaboration. Our programming actively engages with media art as a tool for transformation, resistance, and collective imagination.

Position Overview

Trinity Square Video is seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Design/Communications Intern to support the visual identity and communications of our programming and operations. This part-time role is designed to offer a full-time equivalent experience, spread out over a more flexible 16–20 week period, totaling 480 hours.

The selected candidate will collaborate with the Operations and Communications Coordinator to create monthly, quarterly, and annual design materials that promote TSV’s exhibitions, vitrines, workshops, and membership activities. In addition to public-facing materials, this role involves supporting internal communications and documentation to ensure cohesive and accessible design across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce internal visual assets including staff documents, member notices, workshop signage, and branded templates.
  • Collaborate with TSV staff to ensure accessibility and consistency in visual language and design standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the planning of communications campaigns and timelines.
  • Format and adapt design assets for multiple platforms (e.g., email, Instagram, website).
  • Archive design materials and maintain organized files in TSV’s Google Drive and internal systems.
  • Ensure all materials align with TSV’s equity principles, accessibility standards, and brand identity.

Required Qualifications

  • Recent graduate (2024, 2025 alumni) from OCAD University in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Digital Futures, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.
  • Excellent visual design skills with a strong understanding of typography, layout, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience designing for social media and digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with accessible design practices is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in contemporary media arts and equity-deserving communities is strongly encouraged.

Working Environment

This internship is part-time and flexible, totaling 480 hours. The schedule will be determined collaboratively based on the intern’s availability and project timelines, ideally spread across 16 to 20 weeks.
